Tolyatti, also known as Togliatti, is a prominent city located in Samara Oblast, Russia. With a population of 684,709 as per the 2021 Census, it is the largest city in Russia that is neither an administrative center of a federal subject nor the largest city within a subject. Formerly known as Stavropol until 1964, Tolyatti was renamed in honor of the Italian communist politician Palmiro Togliatti.
